I switched out my battery cuz it was dead, hooked it back up, CORRECTLY. All of a sudden the tach needle is going thru the BIT check, sounds like the fuel injection is kicking in, and lights on display flash. All with out the friggin key in the ignition! Then the LED is fading out and this code pops up; "AMPT 0025". I then use the key and I get nothing but clicking followed by all power drops. The rear brake light works when the pedal is pressed, however the front lever does not activate the tail light.

Anyone have a clue what this is?

Thanks,

It sounds like an accidental short near the battery compartment, perhaps a wire in the harness might have chaffed through and was disturbed when taking the battery out and refiitting. I hate electrics and would call the specialist if it was my bike. Sorry not to be of any help.

HI Speed

Have you checked the state of charge of your new battery? Many of the electrical issues we see here can be related to an undercharged battery.

K so it was a split gound wire that was hitting the frame and kept blowing the 15A fuses... Just incase anyone has this issue in the future! Hope this will help!

I thought for a moment following my previous post and have a question for you Speed.

Please bear with me here, but...., was your battery earth lead broken ("split")? Was this causing some sort of surge perhaps?
It seems to me that it would make more sense if it were a load carrying wire (+) earthing against the frame causing the fuse to blow, not so much an earth (-) lead??? :dunno

You are right that would make more sense...He was just vague with me as far as what exact wire...Just said a grounding wire was split and touching the frame and when they continually put a new fuse on they would blow...Sorry I can be more specific.

No worries mate. No Spanish inquisition here.:thumbup

We can safely say it was caused by a ****** piece of wiring, and leave it at that.
