Nick,  Dutch welding specialist based in Cambridge called 'Deon van Rooyen' quoted £220.  Price covers first 2 hours labour and travel within 80 mile radius.  He might go further but you have to incentivise him.  He has lots of experience welding alloy bike frames.  http://allmetalweldingservices.co.uk

NB: If crack is lower half of lug, access is ready. If it goes into top half, it's more difficult to access without removing the frame, but is doable.

Deon's webpage showing 'Alloy motorbike welding' examples is here:  http://www.allmetalweldingservices.co.uk/MobileOnsiteMotorcycleWeldingRepairs.html

PS:  Some of the engine case welding wouldn't win a beauty contest, but that's not it's purpose... which is to save replacement costs and provide a sound weld, usually more strong than the original.  Most of those 'less pretty' welds are not seen when engine casing re-installed.

Best of luck getting hold of Snowandy...! :)
