2003 model RSV question

Hi,
I'm currently in the market for one of these beauts but am a bit confused by the number of different models and the fact that so many people refer to their late registered models by the year they were registered not the year they were manufactured :confused

So this is what I want to know:
Does the old shape 2003 RSV mille (non-R version) come with the same painted black frame and shortened gearbox etc as the 2003 R version?
Also what models feature radial brakes?

Clearing this up would be a great help thanks a million
oh yeah, if anyone has a 2003 and is interested in selling drop me a line :thumbup
adios :nana

From what i understand in 03 the non-R of the old shape didn't have radials, but the 03 R model was still the old shape, but did have radial.

From 04 onwards it's the SP2 looking shape and the Factory(the old R) has radials, but the R(old base model) doesn't.

The 05 onwards base model and R both have radial calipers.

The base 03 model doesn't have the black frame, and I'm not sure about the gearboxes, but the R gets the carbon, ohlins and forged wheels. I think the engines were the same in both the non-R and R models from 01 to 03, but I'm not 100%.

Wow, thanks for the fast reply!! Don't really mind about forgoing all the ohlins gear (I'm sure that the standard showa would be fine, it certainly is on my CBR600 Sport) but really would like an old shape in the black frame, I think the black frame is malto benny :biggrin but from the sounds of it I'll have to get an R version for that.

Anyone know about old shape 2003 Mille (non-R) and the shortened gearbox??
cheers

Yes old model 2003 standard RSV Mille with revised rear end bodywork has the revised gear ratios.

If you feel that strongly why not just powder coat the frame. IMO it looks nicer shiney.
