2003 linkage on 2000 model??

Alright guys,

Well the saga continues!! Ok, as you know I have the Falco headers on the Mille and just bought a twin race system for the Tuono. After fitting the Falco headers to the Mille, the very bottom pipe still fouls the belly pan!! So i've decided to fit the race system to the Mille and the Falco headers to the Tuono, the reason being the bottom of the Falco headers will not foul on anything as there is no bellypan fairing on the Tuono plus the race system is a great bit of kit and much bigger bore pipes!!

The only stumbling block is the rear shock linkage...... the race system was fitted to an '03 Tuono, which has the shallower linkage.

My question is, can i simply fit the 2 triangular linkages from an '01-'03 model to my '00 Mille, allowing the race system to slot right on. Or is there more to it than that?? Will it change the geometry of the bike or anything badly??

I had an Akrapovic twin pipe set up on my 99 and the same setup on my 2002 and it never touched anything it shouldnt, although the left pipe is very close to the dog bone on both bikes.
If you change the triangles, you will also need to change the dog bone and match it with a later shock as the damping and travel is different.

Bud, aren't the 03 Tuono and 00 Mille the same chassis? and then 05 T and 03 Mille the same? :dunno

geometrywise you would need to have a significant lowering or raising of the rear to make much difference.

Deacs :thumbup

MMmmm....... will go out and double check it can't go on but both me and my mate were looking over it today and seems that it wil need the later linkage. I have a Wilbers race shock, so if i replace the dogbone and triangles, would this be ok????

can't comment on the wilbers, but you should only use the 2000 triangles with the 2000 dogbone and shock.
If you just swap the triangles I think the bottom of the shock touches the dog link.
best all round is the 2002 on shock and linkage it has more travel and better damping.

If your system is an Akrapovic or Arrow then it will fit any year, and if it is make sure you fit the clamp that goes to the sidestand mounts or the pipes will keep twisting

Guys, check this thread and all should be explained. Bottom line from what I can work out is the frame and swingarm mounts are the same but the dogbone, plates and shock have to be kept together as a set (even swapping a Sachs for an Ohlins on the same bike). You can swap the whole lot but not mix and match.

Got it fitted now bud, had to take the front pipe off again and fit the link that attaches to the link pipes BEFORE attaching the front pipe!! Problem solved!!

As for the clamp bud.............what does it secure to on the sidestand mount?? The pipes have a bracket that sits horizontal to the ground with a hole drilled through it but doesn't seem to be an obvious attaching point????

Your missing the bracket that attaches to the sidestand bracket, there was one on Ebay listed as a fairing bracket it was only a couple of £
