Hi guys,
I wonder if you guys can help me, I have been looking at buying a tuono for last few months and i have noticed twice on the autotrader sellers/tradrers stating the clocks had been changed under warranty and so show a lower mileage then the bike has actually done.
I was wondering if any of you know whether this was a mass recall and change or not, obviously my concern is half the used bikes out there may well be showing a lower mileage than they have actually done.
Thanks in advance for any info :)

Thanks Ash, the 2 bikes i have seen where the seller has stated the bikes had clocks changed under warranty where definitely gen1 2003s, both showed lowish mileage clock photos but where honest enough to write in the approximate real mileage. I have had a peruse around the net and cant find any info on a mass clock recall/change for tuonos so hopefully these 2 bikes where just bikes that had random faults changed under warranty.

Thank you for the responses guys, now when i go and look at tuonos for sale is there anything in particular I should look out for? wear and tear - any common problems with age to keep an eye out for?

Same as any other bike I'd say. I knew nothing about tuonos when I bought mine and I've only had a battery die on me through the winter and a solenoid. Engine is bomb proff other than spragg clutch but if your battery is dead don't try and keep cranking it over.

I'm a firm beleiver that anything mechanical will break down at some point. it just depends whether you have a good un or a bad un.

You've joined the right forum though but register on Tuono World as well. Its where the T guru's hang out at the mo

They suffer from a lack of a back brake, under rated starter solenoid, though most will have been done by now, the battery is normally uprated to a slightly bigger output type, dogbone bearings suffer from a lack of grease, there are umpteen threads on here regarding starting /stopping issues.
Have a look on Tuonoworld.com there is a thread on there about things you need to know, if you join up, do an intro.......
I had one and enjoyed it. I now have a gen2 model.
