Hi everyone, i was wondering if anyone has had or come across this problem.
my bike is an aprilia mille 2001 and yesterday i decided to take it out for a run to willingham woods bike meet in lincolnshire, As i set off i noticed a little splutter but thought it was just because it hasnt been ridden for a whilst, so i topped the tank up with £11 worth of fuel. It was ok but everytime i slowed down and got to between 3-4 thou revs it was spluttering, this carried on for the whole journey of about 30 miles or so then went to Lincoln which is about another 25 miles or so still the same problem.
Even on the way home another 45 miles it was still spluttering. great on tick over and above 4 thou revs.
Any ideas ????
regards
Phil
PS it has not long had a full service.

Hope you have fixed this as I note that the thread is nearly a month old but if not I hope this is helpful.

I'd suspect it has been over oiled, as I had the same symptoms when I purchased my bike.
The previous owner thought he would be helpful and "top up" the oil when the engine was cold.

The excess oil will find its way the air box and be ingested by the engine, for me I started getting a misfire between 3-6k

Hi Everyone,
i've got a same sort of a problem.
I've got a 2007 RSV Mille R Factory.
as it appears when the machine is started there is no problem. When i take it out for a drive, it will go into a emergence loop (2,5k - 4k rpm max.) af about 2 kilometers. The EFI and oil pressure sign will show up.
When i start the engine and let it run warm at stationary it' won't have a problem at all.

For this the oil pressure sensor has been replaced and all went well....
But after 3000 kilometers, the problem showed up again.....

As i tried to pinpoint the problem i mentioned they the problem occurred when the cooling system is in its lower temperatures (72 - 79 Celcius). I drove with my bike for hours, in the mountains on passes. The engine was on a good working temperature. But when i drove away on the highways, at high speed, the engine cooled down. It went cloudy and the climate was frisk. The cooling systems showed 72 celcius,
I stopped for fuel, and after filling it up and tried to take off again, it again went in emergency loop. EFI, oil pressure sign, and wasn't able to rev above 4k.
After 2 minutes of stupidly revving the machine up and down, it accidentally popped above 4k and at that point i was able to drie away.

Anyone an idea ?
somehow it is a sort of sensor problem combine with the cooling temperature... i think ....
