2000 RSVR rear pillion seat?

Hey guys, I have a 2000 rsvr factory and I was told by someone I cant put a back seat on because the bike cant support the weight of another person (my 105 lb gf) ... is this true?

Hi there. You need to pop the seat cowl off and check to see where the subframe ends on your bike. It may have been updated to a twin seat subframe, and if it has then you'll see the subframe run all the way to the back. If it hasn't, then the subframe will finish at the riders seat. Another quick way of checking is to see if you have ready drilled mounting holes on the left side for a foot rest hanger :thumbup

Your best bet is ebay squire or track down a breakers. Whereabouts are you? The subframe change over is fairly easy, if not a bit convoluted and time consuming, but it can be done. You'll also need the pillion footrest hangers for each side.

No problem squire. Good luck with the search, and if you do it yourself, you'll need to take apart the rear seat/cowl catch and reassemble it, as it is set up differently between the single subframe and twin subframe. Any problems, give me a shout :thumbup

What do you mean? I was assuming I could just take the fairings off and switch over the subframes..of course theres more involved but thats the long story short lol..

I'm a bit of a novice at stuff likie this, let me know if I should expect any problems.. Thanks!

No problems as such, it is just that the catch is set up differently between the mono subframe and the twin subframe, so you need to take the current arrangement apart, put some of the pieces to one side and then re-fit it. I haven't got any pics to show you, but you'll see when you try it for yourself :thumbup

The other thing is the seat pad. You need a pre 2000.5 seat pad as none of the others will fit. A later model subframe will fit, but not the seat pad with your current tail piece bodywork. The seat pad you are looking for has a pointed tail to it. The later ones are squared off.

ok, sweet deal. Thanks for all the fast and great advice! I really appreciate it! :thumbup:inlove
