i've got a 2000 model and had a play with the gearing, kept the back standard and used a 15 and 16, i've found the 16 is perfect, pulls like a train and dont really lose any top speed, the front wheel comes up lovely in first unlike the 15, i couldnt keep the front down, never thought i'de tire of wheelying but it was too much! hope this helps

16/44 for me too , Renthal Sprockets & Chain form B&C Express , as STL says you cant go wrong with them
