Hey guys, I'm new to the forums.. been lurking a while. I have been watching a 2000 Rsv factory sit at a local dealership for a few weeks now. The bike has almost 20k miles and I was wandering what you guys think would probably need to be replaced, or fixed in the near future.. if I were to purchase the bike. I havent had the oppurtunity to test ride it yet because they dont just let people take out their bikes on joy rides..:dunno..

They're also asking $5,900 for it. Let me know what you guys think! Thanks in advance!

P.S. I love this site! :) :inlove

The problem with any bike these days, is the obsession with mileage..A lot of people (For whatever reason) hardly use their bikes, so you'll see lots in bike parks with tons of extras with no mileage. Neighbours just bought a 2000 RSV with tons of bling and 5k miles on it.. How can you only do 5k miles in 8 years?

Mine now coming up to 13k and just 2 years old, engine if anything feels better now than when I bought it..
Was talking to a guy who used to be a courier on an old Armstrong ex military bike (Rotax engine) who sold it with 250k miles on still going strong.

I think regular use in some ways better than only being used once in a while for short runs, as most engine wear accurs on start up..

The price you pay will reflect the mileage, if not haggle or look elsewhere, as plenty about..I'm going to lose a fortune on mine if I sell, and am seriously considering just keeping it, as I'm no longer in a position to spend so much on a bike again..
Best of luck with your purchase.

very true mark, most engines loosen up with mileage and just get better.
plus the more theyve been used, the more the little niggles have been ironed out, most bikes with very little mileage are barely run in,most rich folk buy these sports bikes as a fad,cos they can,a case of "all the gear and no idea" or how to use them, they buy em,spend loads on all the top exspensive mods ect then scare themselves to death on them cos bikings just not in their blood,no commitment.just check all the service history/recalls if any ect have been carried out and that youve got some warranty worth the paper its written on and the dealers got a good repuation and youll not go far wrong.
milles rock man, theyre fantastic bikes and youll love it to bits.
fantastic ride.good luck fella.let us know how you get on.

What Big Un just said x 2.

Mileage isnt an issue, so long as the service history is there. Go for it. You wont regret it.:pirate

BTW mine has done 24000 and pulls like a train

Welcome to the forum.:thumbup What the guys have said is excellent. I'm not sure what riding experience you have so it's hard to guess what your points of reference will be.

The price of the bike is "in line" if it's in decent condition. I have a 2000 RSVR and I gave a bit more for mine than that.

Give it a really good visual inspection. Don't be intimidated by someone looking over your shoulder. It's YOUR cash that your gonna be plunking down. If there is another shop close by pay them to perform an inspection.

There is a TON of experience on this forum and lots of folks can get real specific about what to look for if you ask.

Good Hunting!!:thumbup:thumbup

I have done over 43K on mine same model and it goes like a dream and sound wonderful I will like to keep it even if ai can afford to buy a new one

Wow thanks guys! You definitely erased any preconceived thoughts of high mileage bikes! I have inspected it thoroughly and its mint, except for a few tiny scratches on the tank from rubbing. If the bike is still there in a couple days, I'm going to make an offer and let you know!

Thanks again guys! I really appreciate it!

I came from a history of Japanese 4's and I am in LOVE with my Aprilia. Loads of torque from the v-twin and very excellent handling. You'll never look back after you've done some serious cornering!:devious:thumbup

Best of luck!:biggrin

48k and shes faster than she has ever been!!.
forget the mileage..as long as its been looked after.

Tomorrow (later today) is the big day! Going to test ride and make an offer! Wish my luck guys!

Thats a sweet looking RSV there mate, nice choice, you will not be disappointed with the power and handling of the Aprilia when setup correctly and running at its potential.
LOUD, naaaah...that big V just breaths heavy mate! :thumbup
