So I parked Frankie in the back of the garage in the last week of September and he has sat there ever since, but today I finally got a chance to try and start him.

1st attempt failed

2nd attempt failed

However 3rd attempt with a helping hand from a spray bottle of avgas down the t.b's and he burst into life , settled down to his usual lumpy idle until this hideous smell with some smoke started coming from the belly pan, a quick shutdown a torch and I find a dead rat in said belly pan now cooking nicely as it was up against the manifolds .

Rat removed and Frankie ran for another 30 mins and was put back to bed until April.

Moral of the story if bike is laid up for a bit check it carefully first before starting !

Gives a new meaning to the term 'rat bike' doesn't it?

Sorry, I'll go back to something more useful.

Cheers

Dave

I like it !!

Started off life as a blue RSV Mille
Then got painted black and had the license plate R666NEV
Then had many other manufacturers parts installed and became Frankie
Replaced the engine
and is now Frankie FrankenRat the Rat Bike (I may just leave the rat in place)
