It seems a popular mod to do, what are the pros and cons, anyone on here do it and not like it

I think you guys with the later models had 16tooth front sproks? so going down one to 15 is the best(and cheapest mod you can do) after all -they are all over geared as standard
My 02 has originally 17/42, I have gone to 16/44(extra 2 links in chain) which is similar to your question and its great, pulls stongly everywhere and gave me 166 top end and better accelration all over the rev range.
I'm now considering 15/44 or mebbe 15/46 although the last one I suppose is really for the track , as top end would be about 150-TBH I dont need much more top end than 150. I guess the other question is do you fancy going to a 520 chain, you will defo notice the reduction in weight and pick kup.

I had a 520 chain on my TLS,it always rubbed on my yosh systm when I pushed it out of my garage and used to really wind me up.
Not really looking for the nth degree of performance, the sprocket just seems a really easy option

1 down on the front isnt a problem tho, especially if you couple it with up two at the rear.....:biggrin
15/42, fits the std chain (6000 miles) and transforms the bike....
the 15T on its own is a good mod, but the 42/43 rear is just the icing on the cake !:love
