hey guys new to the forum and new to aprilia ownership I've being reading reports on the brown connector mod , at the moment my bike gives no hassle starting at tick over it has 13.6 volts with lights on 13.2 is this normal I've had a look at the brown connector and it looks perfect easy to disconnect no scorch marks so my question is do I leave well alone ?

mine was fine aswell but did them anyway i now cet 14.3 with the light on i had the same as you standard i thought better to be safe than sorry

mite give it a shot a the weekend so , is there anything else to be done while down in that direction?

put an extra earth lead on from the negative of the battery too any where on the subframe , I used one of the 4 bolts for the petrol tank , the standard earth lead is very poor , purchased one from a car accessory place the right length was about £4

can I ask what's the advantage of this mod

good afternoon all - hope were all well seems a long while since one was here - as Red said i can supply some H/duty uprated cables and batteries if necc as i did for mark , the cables will carry more amps to the starter solenoid and there on to the starter motor and with the added earth cable makes for a sound starter system. There is little point putting a bigger battery on if the cables can't carry the Amps. but no probs just drop me a pm or email guys ,

There are many quotes like this about the earth lead as standard

Checked mine a few days ago and I got over 14 lights off and 13.8 lights on . Like yourself I checked my brown connector and it was fine but I going to put a better earth cable on to start with . Try a meter as well across the battery terminals as well .

Hi did you take this reading off the dash or from the batt terminals on a multimeter??

If you imagine the bike frame as great big negative/earth terminal thats what it becomes once it is connected to the negative side of the battery.......................the more spread out points of the frame/engine you have secured to the negative post of the battery the better your continuity of the circuit (and less chance of an electrical problem)..........:biggrin

I dont get adding an extra earth lead from the battery :dunno
The standard earth lead isnt very long anyway.

But if vibration loosens the mounting point on the end of that earth cable its a pig to get at it and tighten it up.................so just in case and extra earth lead is like a back and will save your bacon:thumbup
