Not too clued up about electrickery so looking for some advice.

Have ordered a 12v usb socket to run a sat nav. Before I fit it want to know if it will drain the battery if nothing is plugged into it? Also will the alternator be man enough to cope with the extra drain running a sat nav off it?
Thanks in advance.

The 12V socket USB charging port will have practically no impact on your alternator's output. It will be fine.

Will the USB adapter draw current when the bike it off? It depends on the internal design, but it may draw a very small current even with nothing plugged into it. If you ride weekly, it will not be an issue - if at all. If you wire it into a switched circuit (not direct to the battery), then there will be zero drain on the battery when not in use.

Another feature you will want to ascertain is whether the USB charger is capable of supplying the charging current required by your sat nav. You will need to read the specs of each device to know for sure.

This USB charger comes highly recommended and will power any USB device out there.
