I use Shell fully synth Oils in my race bikes..
Ok to use 10W40 semi in an RSV?
Thanks in advance..

Use & service my customers bikes with Castrol GPS 10/40 & used Mobil4T-1 15/50 also ... Prefer Castrol as it returned better oil test results .. But oils is all the same when it comes out of the ground it is only when it has being more highly refined that the differences become more noticeable & how much protection it offers when used to it limit

Don't use fully synth in the RSV, you'll promote clutch slip with it. Any reputable 10/40 semi will be fine.

F*CK ME. Just read this after a oil change 300 miles ago with Fuchs silkolene Comp 4 15W-50. This was what was in it when i bought her. So is this fully synth? If so can I change back to a semi without any harm to the clutch?

There is nothing wrong with full synth !!!! If you have clutch slip's then it is spring pressure or worn plates / friction plates ... Have Drag raced my bike with Mobil4T Racing for years & if there was ever going to be any clutch slip then this would be the way to find it !! Service most of my Customers bike with full Synth never had any clutch issues ..

I'm not talking from personal experience here unlike Sensei, always run semi synth, but there's been plenty of comments in the past affirming my view, just do a Google search.

I believe that the fu;ll and semi thing also depends on years to seme extent but yes I have heard and read firm opinions on the use of fully synth but as I say I am sure that there was an age element to it also
