Hi need help i have a 06 tuono and went to start it having been out the day befor no joy i think it was firing on o
1 pot ? then it sort of ran but was very lumpy for a bit then i saw smoke coming from under the tank ? had a look and the coil looked as if it was melting got a new 1 on ebay put it on still no joy bike would not run so off to my local aprilia dealers say that the ecu has gone and that the coil had sent a spike to the ecu ? anyway if anybodyhas had this happon and can help or knows who can thanks .

If the ECU is fooked, then a new one will make a hefty hole in the pocket. Make sure what they are saying is correct before you go any further. Did they test the ECU or is it just their opinion?

Yes this happened to me ecu dead thought the same coil pack/plug no smoke though, went to get get fuel running fine start up running on one with service on dash lucky for me still in warranty, as duke said not cheap!

Ring the man, Griff at Aprilia Performance and see what he suggests is the best way forward.

Seems the ECU's are not the most robust bits of electronic kit. I seem to hear more and more stories of them failing. Mine was also exchanged under warranty after it failed.

Sorry to be the bearer of possibly bad news, but when Griff was sorting out my non-starting problem last week, he checked out my ECU as he had a spare one from a Mille that would work, and when that exhibited the same symptoms he said "thank **** it's not that then, as they are expensive and like rocking horse **** to get hold of"

Guys at speedaway said about £800 ish new

Done a quick google lots of places out there that fix car ecu's someone must do bike stuff

sorry no good mate need part number ap0266531 thanks.
