06 Ohlins rear shock onto an 03

http://www.tuonozone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1592

Guys,

Is this a straight swap ? have pretty much done the deal on it, but wanted to check it goes on?

Ta.

Nope. :no

It is a different length with a different damping rate and a different stroke.

You need the Ohlins from either a Tuoldo Factory or the RSV Mille Factory from 01 to 03.

The 04 on RSVR & the Tunuo use a different frame.

According to seller (Guy on here) i can just fit the linkage from a later model and all is well.. ?

You can fit the linkage & shock from the 99-01 mille, but as far as I know the later shock is smaller.

I would recommend you don't pay until you have successfully fitted the shock and sideplates and dogbone, and test ridden it.

I would be very suspicious of advice from a seller, after all it's in his interest to convince you.

If you want a gospel answer, go to Apriliaforum, sign up, log in and either PM Ed, Micah or John at AF1, or post the question in the Tuoldo forum, if it's possible they will tell you. I personally think you would be better off buying the correct shock. There is an 03 RSV Factory being broken on Ebay - get it's rear shock, get it serviced and you will be spot on.

Note - if you fit late model side plates you want the uprated ones from AF1 as there is a tiny risk of failure on the later type. Read THIS

MAny thanks mate. Already have a thread on there and the thoughts seem to be the same as yours.

FWIW i don't think the seller has anything like that in his mind, i'm more than happy he's genuine.

I've told him i'm not buying it though.
