Hi all

Just bought an 04 Mille Gen 2. 2nd day of ownership and it stutters and wont rev above 8k. Now have the main warning light and EFI on the dash. Any suggestions ?

Many thanks

Andy

no idea matey - give Griff a call at Aprilia Performance, he will know

Hiya Andy

What you can try is holding down the LAP button for 15 seconds with the key in the on position. The display will do its normal thing and then when you released the LAP button you will get EFI appear and then an error code (cannot remember if it gives you a code or the number of faults detected) try a couple of times as on mine it nevers seems to do it first time?

Below is a list of error codes from a 1 Gen bike which might help

Component Fault Code Possible Cause

Camshaft position sensor 11
Sensor not connected.
Sensor broken.
Wiring faulty.

Crankshaft position sensor 12

Intake pressure sensor 13

Intake pressure sensor 14 Excessive pressure difference between two pressure sensors

Coolant temperature sensor 21

Ignition coil 1, Front cylinder 33 Ignition coil faulty or wiring not connected

Ignition coil 2, Front cylinder 34

Ignition coils 1 and 2, Front cylinder 33,34

Thanks for the advice guys. I stuck it onthe optimate last night, ran the diagnostic and got no errors. Started first time this morning and rode fine. Hmmm. I thinks that what you call Italian Character :). If it happens again I think I will speak to mister Aplrila. Thanks again

Alright dude.... Will you just check your charging rate today please it should be over 13volts to ok really

It's quite rare to have a misfire that high in the rev range , it's normally the bike running out of battery voltage.

Check it running as I said it should be above 13 volts when running

Let us know!

Hi Griff

Before it was registering 12.3. After a day and night on the optimate it now registers a healthy 13.9 and the issue have automagicaly gone. Fingers crossed.

Cheers

Hi,

Bought my 04 rsvr 6 months ago. The problem above happening to mine too. Thankfully my bike came with a warranty. I think they are baffled by it too as it has been back with them four or five times now. Battery struggles to charge but on third one now. Bike won't rev past around 7 thou, and at its worst, once throttled off the bike stalls (difficult to manage rounabouts). Strangely the problem gets worse when ridden for longer than say 30 mins. I'm convinced its a fuel issue. World of Bikes now pursuing the line of a faulty ecu. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Even after 15 years of Japanese bikes.... and mostly fairly old ones (yet always reliable)... my RSV is my pride and joy (on occasional working runs). I know that if sorted this bike will be best i've owned.

Thank you anyone who can help.
