i know they were, but are they/were they in '04 coming in to the US detuned?? if so, i know there's the airbox hole i've got to remove the plastic from. past that, i recall there were wires on the ecu i have to cut--green and yellow?? also, in the exhaust--the arrest burner... i know i've got to rip this bike apart, but anyone done it lately that can pass along some tips?? thanks, guys. also, anyone know about any recall campaigns on the dry sump for this year?? thanks again!!

dual exhaust--thanks for quick reply!! this is for united states, so if anyone knows about the detuning to US, would be appreciated. anyway, it seems the sump seams leaking is a a common problem...

thanks,
tom

Not sure the de restriction process is the same for the 04 model as gen1's.

Gen1 is cut bluegreen wire to access 2nd map, open air box and remove baffle from pipe.

there is no 2nd map on the later models ecu so cutting the wire wont have any effect. Consider changing the eprom possibly...

Sorry fella but there is a second map, to be used when running freer flowing pipes etc., needs to be accessed with an Axone though. Apart from that Gen 2's weren't restricted Tom, the actions you listed in your first post relate to the earlier models.

Oh hang on, I seem to recall California specific models did have some sort of extra emission gubbins, not sure what and which models but from memory easily removed. Try searching on the AFI forum.

No restriction on 04 > bikes

Cali bikes have an evap cannistor which is just a charcoal filter for tank vented fumes. Has no pefomance detriment though, just tends to pressurise the tank a bit.
