04 Factory Backfiring When Warming-up. HELP!

I bought the bike about a month ago and it has been sitting all winter at the dealership so I assumed it was bad gas, but now 6-8 tanks in, it's still doing it.
Symptoms go like this.

1. Bike turns over and does a high idle start at about 1.5-2k rpms

2. After about 15-20 secs it starts to backfire intermittently out of both pipes for about 30 seconds until it warms a bit more.

3. If you try to rev the bike while it's warming up it chokes a bit and the revs drop till the fueling evens out and then it revs pretty well. Then if you let it idle and try again you get the same symptoms until it warms a bit more. It's like it's not getting enough fuel and then it suddenly smooths out. This only happens when the motor is cold mind you.

4. If I try to ride the bike while still cold approx: 120-130F, I have almost no power right away and then suddenly BAM! full power and it runs fine through the gears. It took me by surprise the first couple of times because it happens so suddenly and only when taking off in first gear, or second gear if you can manage to get there while it fights you.

The bike: 04' Factory 2500 mi., full Werks exhaust (dual cans), bought it from a dealer and they didn't know if it's on MAP1 or MAP2, but once the bike has fully warmed up it runs perfectly and I've never smelt any fuel to indicate it's running rich. If it was still on MAP1 I'm assuming it would be running pretty poor am I right?

Anyone experienced the same or similar? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

not an expert on this sorta thing but i would reccommend you check the air filter & spark plugs are in decent condition

i dont know any way to check for sure what map a later model RSV is on without plugging an axone to it, i can however tell you that MAP1 has a sorta "auto adjusting" fuel map (thats why power commanders want you to MAP2 so it can take full control)

That would be suspect but it runs perfectly otherwise....Maybe I'll just change them for the hell of it. It only had 1900 miles when I got it, so I would imagine they're pretty spotless.

i didnt mean you have to change them ^^ just check the air filter isnt full of fly corpses and the spark plugs arent covered in fuel etc

out of curiosity what kind of fuel are you using? wasnt it too low octane can cause backfires or something like that...

93 Octane, sometimes 91, but it's only on start up and goes away after about a minute and that's what's so bizarre about it. The other issue is the fact that it won't rev at standstill and just bogs for a few seconds before reving properly.

to quote the manual "Premium-grade unleaded petrol, minimum octane rating 95 (ROM) and 85 (MON)."
could be contributing to the problem, may even be the cause

I agree with Wolf that the low grade fuel is definitely not helping if not causing the problem. I have a label on the fuel tank telling me that RON 95 is the minimum rating to use.

Let's keep in mind I'm in the US and 93 is as good as it gets. The bike is set to run on that. Is there a way to adjust the warm-up idle speed on these bikes?

as far as i am aware you need an Axone to adjust idle etc on gen 2 bikes, you will probably need to take it to a dealer for this.

unfortunately there are no dealers in 300 miles.. :p I'll probably just send the ecu into af1.com

If that bike in your avatar is the one you're talking about, you don't need the Axone/Navigator as there isn't a Map1/2 variant on GenI's....your bike isn't canbus.
It needs to look like this one to be able to swap maps.
