'02 vs. '03 RSVR

Difference? I have owned a lot of bikes. 99 R1, Hayabusa, Speed Triple, 07 R1, and one of the most amazing rides ever was in the mountains on an '03 RSVR, I have found an 02 with low miles and at a fair price, is it the same? What were the changes for 03? Were they significant?
Thanks!

not a lot of difference, stick with the 02 thay have the most torquey engine, the later 04 onwards models had more peak power at the expense of low down torque. ..but if its a 03 colin Edwards rep go for it.

If you mean the differences between the older shape 2002 RSV Mille and older shape 2003 RSV Mille, not the 2003.5> newer shape RSVR / Factory, then the only differences apart from detailed graphic changes are that the 2003 has a closer ratio gearbox and a restyled rear end. The "R" version also got Brembo radial brakes and gold, rather than blue Oz wheels

I also think that when they went to the black swingarm something was changed there aswell(even tho it looks the same)Is this correct? Leggs any idea mate? for example they make gilles chain adjusters for the 03 but not the 02 . I wanted the black swingarm, but it will be prolly easier to get an earlier one and powder coat it black
cheers CK

Thanks. If memory serves I road an '03 RSVR not an '02. I have wanted one ever since. It purred and handled like nothing I have experienced before or since. You could lean until you dragged your ear on that thing. Coming off a 'busa and 99 R1 the handling and purring twin were a revelation. How is this vintage compared to the new ones released in 04? New isnt always better. My new R1 does everything better than the 99 R1 except accelerate..

Hello, i think its now down to personal choice both shapes are superb bikes all you gotta do is find one you really like and enjoy....:biggrin

CK, where did you see Gilles Chain adjusters for the 03. I was under the impression that Gilles only made them for the newer model 03> RSVR / Factory :dunno

Leggs mate..its prolly me ..but for example, demon tweaks have them advertised as for 03 onwards, but they are not clear which part of that model year,Weird thing is the swingarms look identical to me??!

CK, it's defo only the newer model RSVR onwards. As far as i'm aware the swingarms are the same for the 2002 and old model 2003 RSV Mille, the only difference being one's silver and one's black
