'00 RSV Mille Nero Stalling/Engine Cutting out when putting into gear... HELP!!! :o(

Hi Guys,

I need a bit of help.
Bit of background...
Bike is an '00 RSV Mille Nero.
Renegade Airbox and Can, with correct MAP through a Dynojet PC III.
Bike has had trouble recently with a leaky clutch slave cylinder which has been cured by fitting of an Oberon replacement and properly bleeding.
It starts and runs fine on tickover, with correct idle speed. (I have tried raising idle speed just in case?!)
I kick up the side stand and the S/S warning light on the dash goes out. (Looks like it's operating normally?!)
I then pull in the clutch lever...
Unfortunately as soon as I try to put it into gear it stalls... :confused
I have removed the S/S switch and tried a crude bypass mod (mating the black/brown wires together), but it's still cutting out when I put it into gear.
I have checked for sticking clutch plates by putting it into gear (1st and 2nd) with the engine off (clutch lever depressed) and it still rolls freely...
So...
Any other ideas?

Regards,

Barra!

I'd still look at your bridging on the SS switch (from memory there are 3 wires in the SS loom so you may have pridged the wrong 2) - otherwise maybe a faulty clutch lever switch ???

I'm fairly certain it's not the S/S Switch, but off to pick a new one up now.

Any idea how to bridge the clutch lever switch?

its only 2 wires matey so a simple bridge should suffice :thumbup did you check the ss switch loom and see if it does have 3 wires?

I wouldn't be buying another switch until you know you can get it working by bridging it

Hi Deacs,
I need to buy a new switch as the activation pin that slots into the S/S is damaged, and now I've cut the wires off the old one (yes, there were 3, brown, black, green!) it looks rather unsightly!
I'll try bridging the clutch switch when I get home!
Fingers x'd...
;o)

I'm with the deacs on this one!

Sounds like the side stand switch ....

Let us know how you get on buddy!

Well, news just in...

New S/S Switch seems to have cured it!!! (OEM part £29.30 (inc. VAT) - Part No: 854888)

It was my original diagnosis, but bridging didn't seem to cure it? (It may have been the way I bridged it?!)

Is there any latenet impedance from the third wire? (I'm a bit of an electrical numpty!)

On a plus side, at least I now have a spare S/S switch connector block for creating a proper bridge when I turn it into a track machine remove the S/S altogether!

Many thanks for all your help!!!

Barra!
