Not sure if this a common problem in gen2's but my chrome on the rear indicators has been coming off/flaking/tarnishing for a while . Every time i see it pisses me off but the prices at aprilia is daft so after chatting to mate who is restoring a gold wing he suggested using metallic silver as he had tried all the fake gold/chrome etc type paints and none really worked .

So popped the right hand side reflector out and gave it a wash and then rubbed it down ready for priming !

How it looked after removal

And rubbed down

Primed

and finally sprayed met silver (cheap £1 cans from pound shop )

Not sure why they dont fit seals around the lenses as there was quite alot of dirt etc in the lens/reflector !

Have ordered some decent led bulbs with offset pins to replace the originals and ordered some new slimline ones for the front !

Yep,mine are a bit manky.I noticed after a wet ride the rear indicators were half full of water. As you say,...no seals.

yep, took mine all apart and cleaned / dried them out after getting it filthy and washing.
There must be someway of replating these that isn't stupidly expensive?

Ordered some U channel seals to try and minimize the water ingress and hopefully save my expensive led bulbs :p Will get pics when it arrives

Hi Snaggle,
Let us know if they work and what to order etc as I am guessing there will be many interested parties here

Ok so left indicator is hardly any chrome.. and standard bulb in first video

second video is sprayed cover in metalic silver with standard bulb and third video is sprayed cover with led bulb

Still waiting on U channel rubber to arrive

Well both sides sprayed and replaced with Led bulbs . No weird flashing (canbus bulbs) and they seem brighter to me and they dont look **** now so im happy.. The U channel turned up but even though i got the smallest size it dosent fit well and looks **** when fitted . I think the only way to get a decent seal would be to glue a very small rubber O ring type material to the lens or maybe run some silicon round it .

My 5000k headlight bulbs turned up today and led sidelights (canbus again) so just waiting on led front indicators !!

Ok indicators turned up but they flash at 3 times the speed .. Do it fit a resistor or change the relay ? If so where is the front indicator relay located ?
