I just bought a "UFO" armadillo type back protector. Personally, I like this style better than then 'grid' types - lighter and (IMHO) more vertically flexible. I could not offer an opinion as to which style is more effective in a crash though.

I think you need to try some different brands on in the showroom - with your jacket on, and sitting on your bike, if possible.

Just my two-bob's worth mate. In any case, in an off, it's better with any style back protector, than without.

Anyone give anymore advise on what to go for here, do you guys use them all the time regardless of how short a run your on. Probably a stupid question the last one but as of now i have only got whats fitted to my jacket which is pretty decent but the Frank Thomas leathers that i have dont have one thats much cope so looking to get one for use on track days. If i get one i will likely use it all the time so want your thoughts on what to go for.

:cheers

cant rate the forcefield one enough mate, also gets ride mags best buy, just make sure you get a level 2 protector and not the cheaper level 1 as its not the best for protection, also had a knox aegis and loved it but i bought the wrong size(to small)but worn it a few times so just punted it on ebay, its also very comfy and level 2 protection, eather would be good for track use,the knox is a little slimmer made but neather restricts movement etc:cheers
edit to say, always use it mate, better safe than sorry

Anything that gets a RIDE tag is generally regarded by many as being spotty dog. I must admit I have thought many times and never done owt about it. So, this year it'd a must. Shame you can't get a suit made of the same that flexes with the body. Total Protection.

I've got a Forcefield level 2. Best and most comfy back protector you can buy IMHO. I had a hard shell Dainese before and they are like chalk and cheese.

Make sure you get the right size and the level 2 though. They are quite long and if you buy one a touch to big it will stick out the top of your leathers. I'm 5ft 11 and the medium is spot on.

I have a Forcefield for trackdays and Hooning.

For more sane riding I have the Dainese one in the back of my jacket.

Ive got a knox - and crashed twice in it. Cant comment on the Forcefield but I really rate the Knox kit. I went to the factory for mine as its only up the road from me here in Cumbria. They measured me first to ensure I got the right size - as this is the most important bit - wherever you buy one should do this. I wouldnt buy one online as you need to try it on etc as already mentioned. I never ride without it .
