I have seen a couple of threads about the brown connector but can someone explain to me where and what it is and how to make the mod? Or is there a thread on this somewhere?

Dumb question :yes... Could the rectangular 'brown block connector' actually be 'white' and round...???
I checked my 2004 plate (2003 yr) Gen 1 couple of weeks back (whilst fitting a Scottoiler)... and no sign of a brown connector... but there was a nice while plastic round cylindrical connector, with 3 yellow wires entering each end.. .along with a couple of other colours, incl blue).
The unit looked original... so did Aprilia upgrade the connector from 2003 onwards?
Double checked earth stud... and it looked good too... so nice to know!
Nope, there will still be a brown connector,...unless a previous owner has removed it.Usually hiding between the cylinders somewhere.
BTW,those white connectors have been known to burn out.Pull it apart to check.
Hi, I have just fixed my connector problem on my Gen 1 2003 model. I had a white connector between the cylinders and a brown connector at the rectifier on the sub frame (outer right side at the rear seat). Enclosed is a photo of my damaged white connector and I could not pull the brown connector apart, so I removed them and put inline crimps, this has given me 13.8V at 4000rpm. Before I only had 12.43V and that varied up and down. I have just been for a 400klm ride and all seems well. However I will be checking the starter motor and frame ground connections soon.
