Hi, I've stalked the forum long enough so it's time to jump in the fray. Not to long ago I made the deal of my life and traded four small dirt bikes (sorry kids) for a 09 tuono code orange. I have loved it from the start and immediately began adding frame and axle sliders along with other tid bits. My plan is setting it up for the track while keeping it practical for the street. To that end I hope to regularly tap your expertise. Being my first Aprilia, I am wanting to discover what works the best without personal trial and error (can't afford mistakes with limited budget) while on my quest. I am new to forums so will try to get up to speed. Anyway, proud to be part of the Aprilia fraternity.

Hello and welcome. Can't say I've got any expertise being a newbie but it's good to see what people are doing with their bikes. I reckon you did a good swap.

First up is to ditch the standard shock , its **** . get a nice new one in there .
Forks aint too bad i thought so i just dropped them through the yokes by 2 rings to quicken up the steering a bit , the rest is just twiddling the adjusters , that should get you started .

Appreciate the suggestions. As it turns out the last shop; PCS/Daytona; told me they put "a Millie racing shock" on to make a little improvement. Also has high risers holding handle bars, along with carbon fiber heel guards and front and rear fenders in addition it has adjustable levers. They also said it has lighter wheels than stock but I couldn't tell you what kind they are. Maybe you can tell me from the picture. Sunny beach, told you I was new to forums. Somehow posted reply twice. :dunno Anyway have slip ons on back order along with rear cowl and solo exhaust brackets too. Next up will be rear sets and fluid retaining belly pan if I can find em. Keep the info/suggestions coming as it helps a lot. Thanks again, Kent
 
If it still has the stock 16t front sprocket, you might consider going to a 15t, makes it much more manageable around town. Great looking bike, btw.

thanks Superbike Twin. I've already ordered the 15/42 change but have yet to install. btw I used to live in Yakima for about 3 years and was up there when Mt St Helens went off.

Yeah, I remember that. The softball team I played on was at a tournament there (I didn't go). Our sponsor thought he's load the back of his pickup with volcano ash and sell it, but didn't cover his load. By the time he made it back to Seattle, his truck was empty and everyone behind him on the road wanted to kill him.

Shocks on the Tuono and the Mille are interchangeable. Standard shocks are Sachs, uprated ones are Ohlins.

The standard wheels are brembo and the lightened ones (also off the racing / factory) are marchesini. There will be manufacturers logos cast into them.
