Hi guys,
I'm looking for an exhaust for my Tuono v4 , just like some suggestions or recommendations from you guys who have been through process of purchasing , fitting , and living with the kit on a daily basis.
I had a Yoshimura R77 on my 12 reg fireblade, great for an hour or so , but after that I was reaching for the ear plugs !
Hope you guys can steer me in the right direction :thumbup

I had the same exhaust on my blade. Didn't find it too loud personally.

I've thought long and hard about this for the V4. The stock exhaust is so good, it is a tough decision. I've decided on an Austin Racing exhaust.

Just been looking at those on fleabay, very competitive price , you don't have any sound clips / vids ?

Mivv gp on mine with the baffle in , just a tad louder than stock but a lot louder with the baffle out .
Between 60 - 80 mph its quite quiet until you give it the berries ...

Got an Austin Racing GP2R on mine. Its as loud as f*ck but I don't care. It gets the muppets in cars looking in their mirrors and scares the sh*t out of cats.

You know what they say "if its to loud your to old" :thumbup

Like that a lot , £650 is a lot of coin , but I am being lured towards austin racing , do you have a decat pipe ? Or does it connect after the cat ? Do you run a power cmdr , thanks for the help :thumbup

Hello CG, I have the decat pipe and I have also removed the exhaust valve cables. I never bothered with a Power Commander as the fuelling seems fine to me as is.

Regards

Rob

Does the decat pipe come with the AR can , or is that a separate purchase , if it is a separate purchase , who supply's them .
My piggy bank looks like it's going to be empty for a while :yes

Austin Racing supply everything when you order just specify you want the decat pipe aswell and not just the can. Rob

Should have said the quality is superb and it's road legal with the db killer in place.

Hey Cable Guy.
Get the Akrapovic Aprilia slip-on with unlock code.
It comes with Cat converter mid-pipe and racing mid pipe and removable baffle.
You can upload the RACE map which disables the flapper valve and you can run the racing mid pipe with no baffle = heaps more responsive on throttle and much louder and guzzles more fuel.
You can run it stock with/without cat converter and with/without the baffle = nice deep tone, slightly more noticeable throttle response and unleashes the V4 sound!

So for commuting and every day use i run the cat converter mid pipe, stock tune and no baffle. It's the perfect sound, easy on the ears and still has the deep V4 growl.
When i do track days, it's as simple as uploading the Race map, and changing over the mid pipe which takes all of 3 min. Then it turns into a full race system and yes it is loud. A lot of Tuono owners run this configuration on the street and love the noise. There is a whole weird thread on the obsession over the flapper valve mod (which is designed to meet Euro Noise Emissions - read this: (Noise emissions of motor vehicles - Automotive - Enterprise and Industry)

The stock ECU fuels the bike differently to the race ECU below 5250rpm with the valve in operation as the valve affects how lean/rich the bike runs depending on it's operating position. Stock ECU keeps valve shut below 5250rpm/90% throttle opening whilst the Race ECU keeps the valve in the open position period. You don't need to remove any cables.

I don't care what anyone says, if you don't run the right ECU/tune with a slip-on, the motor will run lean or rich and can cause long term damage (vavles, valve guides, cylinders)
So if you decide to get a slip-on that's not approved by Aprilia and designed with Aprilia for the bike, then make sure you get one that has been approved to run without a tune or get the bike dynotuned to suit the pipe. The Akrapovic is designed to run with the stock tune. People complain about the cost, etc, but bottom line is, it's worth it.

For comparison from other manufacturers
Triumph = arrow with tune
Ducati = Termignoni with tune
Aprilia = Akrapovic with tune

Around my area cops are notorious for booking loud bikes so i choose to run the cat converter to keep it legal. With the baffle in it is the same volume as the stock pipe, just deeper.

Hope this helps mate. cheers

Colv4r, how long did it take to arrive from placing your order, are you running it with db killer ?

I have the aprilia akraprovic end can on my bike, it came with it when I bought it so can't comment on how easy it was to fit but does look easy enough, sounds awesome, great when quick shifting up the box , no baffle in it either :)image.jpg DOH it's upside down, damn ipad !!!!!!!!!
