sorry another tyre thread

Got 190 on both me tuo and 52/s/triple dont know any different, sp/smart on tuo seems, brill in all weathers but there is a lot of greasy stuff lifting out of roads lately in the rain.

hERE hERE, roads were really greasy due to **** coming out the tarmac, wouldn't blame it on the rain / wet roads / tyres. All those farmers driving around chucking there mud around the place does have a profound affect on the road surface. was really surprised how dirty my bike was after a short ride out on Sunday.

just getting back on thread

I assume that you don't rate your tyres - ditch finder2 or mudfinder1 not sure which they were

I need to buy a new rear tyre curret sportmax has come to the end after almost 5300 miles

Found this one on Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dunlop-Sp...83?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item19cfa1b207

thought I would bid for it seems a fair price

Turns out the ture was manufactures in October 2008 and purchased early 2009 been sat in a garage ever since

Anyone know if the tyre is likely to have deteriorated in any way? is this a reason not to buy them

Brought my bike in July 10 which was manufactured in 2009 so the tyres were probably a similar age when I bought the bike and they have been fine

I would have thought thyat as long as storage conditions were dry & out of direct contact with sunlight they'd be fine someone may shoot me down in flames but i'd suggest the reason suppliers put on the tyre deals that come up every now and then is to get rid of stock no longer in production. Qualifiers being one of the ones that come up every now and then. Not sure whether they still make them but there does seem to be a lot of them about on special offer. about £140.00 a pair I thinks. believe M&P have a deal on at the moment. shall take a look and get back. not sure how to do a link but will have a go.

Not such a muppet after all.

Thanks Tricky

If I don't pick up this rear tyre for £65 I will give mandp a go

MW, there's little over a quarter inch of rubber between you and death, how cheap is yer life mucker?

Completely agree 100% Aldo, imo i dont mess about thinking is a tyre good, bad or i'll give it a go and see. ITS NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!!

Same tyre at Demon Tweeks Wrexham £100.00 & they're only up the road from you, got others there you may be interested to look at.

Nothing wrong with qualifyers, nice & sticky but just didn't last me long, However I'd say our riding styles styles are differant, I only managed 1900 from a rear Sportsmax Sportsmart. 1200 from the stock Qualifier RR2 (600 running bike in.) 3000 from a sportsmax roadsmart.

Having said which & tying in with Aldo & Snowman one of the reasons I don't want a tyre to last me ages and ages is because I wouldn't want one on my rim from year to year in case of degradation. I currently running a Sportmax Sportsmart which was £159.00 fitted ride in ride out from Tweeks last month.

I need a pair on mine now, so am just debating what to use this time. Cost not an issue.(to a point)

If I needed a pair & especially knowing you Ash I'd seriously consider Pirelli Road Angels, Have heard a lot of good reports, alternatively Dunlop Roadsmarts. I've had about three and never had an issue. Cannot tell the differance with my Sportsmarts & last much longer.

Yes your probably right Mick, Bay uses Michelin road pilots and I know someone else that uses Bridgestone sport tourers (BT 023), they are supposed to be good as well. I guess it will come down to what's on the shelf next Saturday morning. Anyway Mick, what you trying to say, am I that slow..............:thumbup

Qualifier on fleabay went for £78 postage £15 = £93

Decided that CMC cannock was a better deal £103 plus £23 fitting if I take the bike in or £12.50 if I take the wheel in

Not at all garry, just that you are worldly and wise and don't see the necessitiy to demonstrate Moto GP style launches every time you pull away and go through the box like you're trying to escape the path of a persuing tornado. I used to use Pilot sports and found no issue, again would consider a pair without hesitation price can't be ignored.

Too many coppers around ash to warrant going too fast. Stick to 70 to 75 and if you get stopped in a 60 doing that it's 3 points and that's it. Unless they're feeling generous and give a friendly warning.

Aye lads I know, I can cut it when I need to, sport touring tyres will do me.
