Hi, 200 miles to heysham for my ferry to the TT in june, wondering what it will be like. I have never ridden that sort of distance before. What is your experiences of long journeys on the T? fD

A few years ago went from London to Brno in 3 days, longest day was about 350 miles. Absolutely superb bike for distance, especially when compared with some of my mates who were on sports bikes.

Last year I rode from Durham to Hull, 103 miles no problem.
Next morning - Euro-port to Assen (Groningen), 137 miles no problem.
3 days later - return to Europort - 137 miles no problem
Next morning - Hull to Durham, 103 miles, half way home I was pleased to get off it, any further & the degree of uncomfortableness was starting to affect my riding.

Rode from North Wales to South Wales last summer which was about 150 miles plus we'd done a fair bit of riding from Mid Wales at that point so probably over 200 miles in total and I was bloody glad to get off the thing by then. Saying that the weather was pretty cold and wet when we set off in the morning but my *** was aching by the time I got off.

I did 700 miles in one day on a ZX12 in 2005 when I was caught in the Austrian floods trying to get to Germany (had to keep doubling back)
Ws a mare of a day 7am till 10pm in the saddle ,but was back on it the next day

To be honest Daz I've got same bike as yours being a Gen 1 and I thought they were a little bigger than the Gen 2's. However I rode Gilo's Gen 2 and it seemed to have a more upright riding position than mine. I know my front forks have been dropped through the yokes somewhat to give a better turn in but what I did was move the bars forward a bit which gave it a bit more room to move about on and gave it a more comfortable riding position.

I found it a good improvement for me as it was much more comfortable.

I've never found the seat to be a problem until I did that North Wales run and by eck my *** and sac were aching by the end of that lol

I think it depends on what sort of roads you are riding on.Miles and miles of motorway stuff can be painful.Usually my boney arse first,....I have to shift cheeks to get the circulation back. Then its the right wrist,.....from constantly holding the throttle open.

Never had a problem with the wrist Keith.
On the GSXR and BMW I used to get a neck ache after only an hour in the saddle.
However, not had any neck ache since owning the T.
GSXR was low due to being a sports bike but the BMW was a sports tourer. Still gave me ache.
Saying that the BMW realy handled and was like on rails. Some Avon Storms on there was awesome. Probably due to weight.

Probably just me and my weedy body then.:lol
Worst bike for distance was my old Yam FZ750.The seat was like sitting on a narrow plank and the vibes when you were riding at 70-80mph made yer hands go numb.

most trips we did last yr on the weekends were around 330miles

I wouldn't worry too much Daz cos you're gonna be stopping for fuel before ya arse gets sore.!! Hehe!
I find my neck to be my main source of discomfort after riding, especially after a 'spirited' session.

FudFest 111, day one 440, day two 300.

It's a walk in the park mucker, yer stop every 100 miles fir fuel anyhoo.

A like tae walk aboot when a stop, even if t's jist in a tight circle roon the bikes. A rerckon it stops ma left leg fae crampin up.

Aye and anither thing if yer doin high milage days, try tae wear long boxers wae nae seems doon the cheeks of yer arse.

200 hunner miles, feck yer'll dae that afore yer need a cupa.

I will bore the **** of you all when it gets closer, and even more when I get back. 95 days until TT 12. I suppose you feel the pain more on the way home....

680klm's (about 422 miles) in 1 day not a problem only sore neck and arse but that's about all

I feel its only right to help the IOM pubs, in the current financial climate...
