Fuel Tank Breather

I have a 2009 RSV1000 and it seems that the tank breather/drain is blocked, as fuel seems to coming up from the drain hole under the filler cap, but not draining away again. Can anyone recommend what's the best way to clear this? Cheers. :)

Ok, upon further investigation, it appears that the fuel cap isn't sealing anymore, and the seal isn't a listed Aprilia spare part (how stupid is that?!!!). Can anyone recommend either way of fixing the existing seal, or an after-market replacement (preferably lockable, as it's a road bike)? Thanks again.

I think I may have the same issue. Did you solve it rideforfun?

I solved my problem by replacing the entire fuel cap assembly with an aftermarket racing one. Half the price of the Aprilia item, much better quality, but it isn't lockable. And, if/when the seal fails, it's a generic part available anywhere for pennies. :)

So nothing wrong with the pipes/breather pipe? What cap did you go for, does it still pass MOT? Any problems with people stealing your fuel/in general, not being lockable?

The pipes all seem to be fine. I cannot remember the make/model of cap that I have, but it looks identical the one sold by Harris Performance, but in silver. No issues with the MOT, as being lockable isn't a requirement of the test. So far, no fuel has ever been stolen, but I generally don't park my park where it might be at risk, if I can help it.

Thanks for the info ride4fun :thumbup Looks like I may go the same route. Will have a better look at the problem over the weekend.
