Has anyone tried fitting a 200/55 rear tire on a Mille R?

I just got me a smoking deal on a pair of Pirelli Super Corsa SPs, but I'm not so sure if the 200/55 rear tire I got would fit on my 2002 Mille R. Has anyone tried it?

I currently have Dunlop GPs 190/55 on the rear and there's very little clearance between it and the chain.

Me thinks too big, you have nearly answered the question in your original post!

But then, the 200/55 was designed for a 6 inch wheel which I have. I wonder if anyone has tried fitting one on a Mille R.

Most of my track buddies are using the 200/55s on their newer bikes and it seems to be all the rage nowadays.

I can only just squeeze my tyre warmers over my 180/55 and 16/44 sprockets, they would never go over a 200, I'm sure of that! What bikes are your mates riding? All the rage nowadays may not suit a 10 year old Mille.

Yeah they are all riding newer liter bikes. I'll try to sell the pair to one of them and buy me a set of SCs with a 190/55 rear.

200/60 fits perfectly, I have it on wheel at the moment if you want some pics...

What brand and model? The Pirelli Super Corsa SP is like the road going version of the SC I'm not sure if the profile is as sharp as the race tires.

I have pireli superbike on it and there is no problem with chain. I had problem last year even with 180 tyre, when chain was in bad condition. But now it is new and even with 200 there no contact.

Post em up Spider, I have done a little search and it seems manufacturers sizes can vary a great deal, so some 180's are the same size as 190's with certain makes!!! OP did mention a 200/55 not what you have a 200/60.

Hi

I have 1999/2000 rsv mille r, is possible to fit 200 rear tyre? If yes, what numbers must be for front and rear gearing? Can stay standard? Or one link longer chain (and gearing) will help?

bigger wider tyres make the bike turn slower, sap power and wear in the centre excessively. Early bikes the rear tyre runs closer to the chain. I am in the smallest is best because its quicker turning and wears better. Most riders of really wide tyres seem to be the ones that the tyre doesnt get used 40mm from the edge lol.

I know and I want put it because diferent reason. Will 200 fit 5.5" wheel? As as I find, rsv mille gen1 have 5.5"

Early bikes had the engine moved 20mm to the left. This means there is not much room. The 5.5 wide wheel means the tyre doesnt sit right (as the designer of the tyre intended)
Try it and report back, early bikes the chain can rub against the tyre.
