Hello All

Last month I got a Gen 2 RSVR (model year 06) - and love riding the twin (after a Honda CBR).

But the side stand definitely needs fixing - and I've got a Blade (04-07) sidestand in the post.

It's not entirely clear (from all the other postings) exactly what needs to be done. So, if anyone has done the mod (with a Gen2 and Blade sidestand) can you help me figure out:

- Does the new Blade stand use the existing Aprilia switch - as a straight swap?
- Will the Blade stand bracket fit exactly onto the existing fixing holes? (I assume the Blade stand leg AND bracket are used - not just the leg?)
- Do I need to shorten the Blade stand (some people say about an inch)?

Any help/advice appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Nick - Yup, I did that. The 'Blade sidestand fits straight into the Aprilia bracket. The Aprilia sensor switch switch fits as well. The only mod needed is to stop the sidestand hitting the zorst when retracted - I have a small blob of weld on mine. You'll see what I mean when you install the leg.

Hi Andreas

Thanks for the info. It's good to find someone who has done the exact mod - on the same bike.

Sounds pretty straightforward. I'll look at the 'blob' mod when its installed. If you get a chance over the next few days, could I ask you take a couple of pics of your sidestand for me? Don't worry if its too much hassle - I will figure it out!

Cheers
Nick

Hi, what you need to do varies. I modded my side stand last year and after some research on here it was evident that people were having two differant problems
My problem was that the bike was leaning over too far, the stand being too short. I got 15mm put into it, side stand was cut and an extension welded in.
I did read on here that other people had problems with the bike sitting too upright, This is where the fireblade stand comes into play.

Hope this helps Jeff

Thanks, Jeff

Yep - mine is too upright. Looks like the Blade stand does the trick for me!

Cheers
Nick

Andreas - these help a lot. I see what you mean about the additional plate. One (last) question: did you use the Aprilia spring - or the one from the Blade stand?

Thanks again
Nick

Andreas - Good stuff. I am not so close to Tamworth - but will include Griff in a trip sometime soon. Blade stand arrived today - so some work over the weekend! Cheers. Nick

Andreas - Got it all down now. Instead of welding a bit on, I used a drilled and tapped a small hole to fit an M3 panhead screw in the top of the leg. It works a treat. All working fine now - and making use of the good weather without worrying about coming back to a horizontal RSV! Thanks for your help, mate. Cheers Nick:thumbup
