Hi all,

My names Steve. Literally just got home from picking up a 2001 Mille R. Just under 13k on the clocks. Carbon everything, Sato rearsets, Akra full race system. I believe looking at the tank stops (they are slightly lifted from the frame) that it may have had the airbox mod done. Clutch is a bit heavy though so I think the jet md may be required (done A LOT of reading on here already haha).

ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT WAIT to get out on it, but it's my youngest sons 3rd birthday tomorrow so got a million things to sort for that. Gutted as the weather looks like it's going to turn again tomorrow, but as she's now mine I can wait for some sun again.

So, expect some ridiculous questions, although I'm no stranger to the search feature so hopefully will try and keep the question count down.

Booked on a trackday on May 11th at Rockingham. Was supposed to be going on my mates GSXR 1000 (HEAVILY breathed on silly power and slicks thing), but reckon I might just have to give my new toy a run out instead :D

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve
Nice one on your new toy. I would definitely be taking the mille round the track they are fantastic on a circuit!

Don't have many (yet), and have tucked her away in my garage atm as it's my youngests bday so won't get chance to even look at her till after Easter. Got these ones from the advert I bought her from though. Personally I think she's a real looker, but then I would eh ;)

There are a few marks on the bike most notably a couple holes in the rear seat unit where the previous owner didn't fit it properly and the subframe has punctured the carbon. Toying with the idea of vinyl wrapping it to get over that one. There are some weird sort of air bubbles on the actual tank, which the previous owner thinks appeared since he lashed ACF50 all over the bike as it was stored outside for a while, and theres a good hole in the rear hugger from what looks like a stone getting between the tyre and it, but I can forgive those as it is 13 years old now. There is ask a scratch on the swing arm thats in a bit of an odd direction. Nothing else looks like the bike has been on the floor though. The Ohlins all seem pretty stiff upfront as well, so I think it may have seen the track at some point (not an issue as it'll be seeing it again ;) )

I'm absolutely over the moon with it. Just can't wait to get out on her.

Managed to sneak out and have a bit of a closer look at things earlier. Lifted the tank and it would seem the air box mod has been done on my bike. Couldn't see the number of teeth anywhere but it looks to be running a Talon (I think) rear sprocket. I reckon the left hand side switchgear on the clip ons has been changed to as there is no choke lever on there and talking to a mate today he seems to think there should be a manual choke lever there. In fact I can't find a choke on the bike at all?!?!

Also remembered today when I was going to fit the battery part to the Aprilia that I'd left my Optimate connector that fits to the battery on my last bike when I sold it (Bugger!!). So got the seat off and put it on my regular charger/maintainer until I can get another (hopefully on Tues).

Also tried to see where the fork settings were and the top knobs are rather tight so I think they are wound right in :( Not gonna rush into that, will have another look with a mate when he gets chance. Weirdly speaking with him today he's bought an '03 model Mille R today haha.

Definitely think once I'm up and running next week it'll be a trip to Griff soon to get TB's balanced, CO checked and give the bike a once over. Little bit of reading seems to throw him up as being the man to see!

Cheers

i have the spec of this bike somewhere i think i have just realised which bike it is

def. has 57's was never a race bike ...i'll see if i can find the info ...was up for sale 4 years ago at 6.5k

Yes mate that is my exact air box. Right down to the gaffa tape haha. That's great if you know the bike and can furnish me with some history, as at the moment I'm kind of clutching at straws trying to figure everything out.

Not had chance to ride it at all yet. First trip out gonna be tomorrow if it's dry hopefully.

Oh and I paid £2.5k for it.

Cheers Steve

No problem, I got there in the end haha. Going to drop Luke a mail to see if he can shed some more light on full specs etc, or see if he has any dyno print outs kicking about still (I'm assuming he will of had it setup on a dyno).

Hoping to get out tomorrow, but if not going to spend a bit more time investigating around the bike. Need to figure out how to remove the rear hump so I can see what's under there. Should be a PC3 according to that spec list. Will keep you all posted!

Cheers

Seat needs to come off, lift the rear corners to get to the bolts..it may have quick release like the tank.

Bolts on the under tray 4 I think then pull backwards

Cool cheers will give that a go when I get a minute. STUPID cat decided to give the missus a scare this morning so spent pretty much all the free time I had today sat in a vets waiting room. Needless to say I'm VERY unimpressed, and considering a new pair of black and white fluffy slippers ;)

Steve

Yeah not a cat person myself

I always make the joke about cats playing football then pretend to kick them ....friend of mine is one of them cat lady's ..kin everywhere

I'm not a cat person either but used to travel a lot for work and it stopped the missus talking about having kids for a couple of years haha. Troublbe is I'm now stuck with both cat & kids :/
