Tight arse stand

I,ve been get frustrated over the last few months, not being able to get the front of the bike off the ground to let me get the wheel out etc.
Funds being very tight at the moment I can't yet afford to get the abba stand that I want.
Well last week I thought that if I made up some blocks to bridge the exhaust under the engine I could use a trolley jack to lift the front while the back was on the normal paddock stand.
While messuring up I had a different thought. What if I could make a stand that used the swingarm pivot? My plan was to use the normal paddock stand to initailly lift the bike, fit my home brew one and the remove the normal on.
The design evolved slightly as building progressed especially the the cross support, it had to be quickly fitted and removed, initial thoughts were to use bolts and wing nuts but ended up with slotted plates that allow the heads of the bolts to drop through. I cut the side plates from high quality cabinate grade ply, lamiating two 12mm pieces together, I then added some oak blocks to reinforce the area of the pivot pins that i made from some 12mm wrall bolts I had laying about.
It may not be high tech but it works and will do untill I can afford an abba stand.

Neat solution and far better than using the exhaust as a lifting point
- all sorts of stresses where they should not be on that!

With the price of wood I'd use a bit of steel bar and a couple of cheap axle stands.

But I pushed the boat out and bought one of these,

Eazy Rizer Original Red Motorcycle Lift

Best £350 I ever spent, the bike can spend all winter at a proper working height, ( no more crawling on the floor for me) and it makes it effing difficult to steal the bike !

Miff

Its wood because thats what I had laying about. Total outlay £0.
When I had my speed triple I made myself an abba copy but without the interchangable swingarm fittings
as it was taylor made for the triumph I let it go with the bike.
Had I still had access to a tig welder I would have made myself another to fit the milie.

No he's a member of the A-team they used to be locked in a garage and conjure up all sorts...well done :thumbup
By the way I like the A team referance, given time i can often come up with an off the wall solution.
