New member oldish biker!!!

This sounds awesome Shaun, can't wait to see the progress. I have got a spare gen2 rsv frame if it makes it easier to measure the engine mounts.

Shaun was gonna take a look at your website to see if you had put any updates on about the new project.

The cartisan designs link doesnt work .... You are probably already aware but just in case !!!

Hiya Paul, I think I found the problem, took ages to fix, I'm updating all my website stuff so its faster so it will take a while to get it all sorted, if the link still wont work, you need to clear your cashe in your browser, its in options etc.

Sounds nice :) even thought tinny speakers on my phone!

Anyone know the capacity of the oil Tank, Ive read the manuals and can only find the total capacity not just the tank on its own, this info will save my buying one just to measire it.

TIA

Shaun

Thanks for that, it will be of help to know pretty soon, the design is getting close to finished I just have detail work to do, I would like to make the oil tank a feature but have limited room in the traditional place.

Cheers

Shaun

Oil tank capacity

No ones seems to have an exact figure shaun.

If you wanted to measure mine would you need to drain and remove it?

It maybe worth PM'ing Tash or Griff as they may have a oil tank lying around..

This is a sort of update

I have no idea if anyone remembers this thread, as I said it might take a while, anyhow the attached is pretty much the finished design, although I'm still working on the front fairing / headlight area.....
at this stage I have quite a bit of the bike built, the chassis is pretty much done, and the engines in, I have the swinging armes to make next, then start on the centre hub thingy, :) the fiddly bits and cosmetic stuff will folow that............

Hiya Forum I've been meaning to update this for a while the bike is coming on very well I have the main chassis pretty much finished and the front! swinging arm is in I will be starting on the hub next but I have proper works to do so it might slow down again, this build is being serialises in BSH magazine, which has just been taken over or under new management or so I've just been told, I have no idea if the serialisation will continue, for obvious reasons I cant put the build articles on here but if someone else does................

I will add some photoes of the progress here soon though, but in the meantime here's another rendering.

Shaun,

The engineering is stunning !, if this is your hobby what the hell do you do for a day job ?

Keep the updates coming please :thumbup

Bit of an update for those interested, the chassis components are pretty much done, all the centre hub stuffs done as well, Ill post some pics soon, I will probably be making a start on the tank etc, the week after next.
As stated earlier I want to run the early ECU and electrics so today I've managed (with the help of Tash's puller "thanks" and no heat required!! ) to get the rotors swapped over from the Gen I engine to the Gen II, luckily the sprag on the spare Gen1 engine was new so I just installed it as is, I also modified the head and cam cover on the Gen II to take the older cam pickup sensor and wires' Tomorrow I can machine the inside face of the main chassis rails just to get some weight out of em, calculated all up weight is now looking like 160ish kg, better than I thought when I started the project, my target being 180, so this coming week I can get started on putting the bike together proper, oh ye both swinging arms are completed I just need to get them powder coated along with the wheels, don't get me wrong its no where near finished, I still have a lot of components to make but I can see light now............

pics soon...

Anyone have a drawing of the locking tool, I need to change the exhaust cam sprocket or is it easy to do I havent checked the manual yet

Do you mean the one to lock the crank shaft, it's just a long M8 bolt with the end ground to a blunt point. Set to TDC wind in with fingers only & wiggle the crank with allen key socket until you feel it engage in the slot & do up finger tight.
