Swing Arm Clearance For Exhaust End Can's

Hi all

Been a while since i last posted on here, lifes been busy!

Ive always had an issue with swing arm clearance with the exhaust set up that came with the bike but recently due to carrying a pillion its been greatly enhanced now causing damage!

It seems to be worse on the left hand side, the cans are "carbon and co", i believe the cans and link pipes came as a set. Ive read on here that spacers can be used but IMO unless you have a really stong robust exhaust strap wouldnt it just work its way but to where it wants to naturally sit, bearing in mind the link pipes are just held on with springs.

Ive also checked the angle on both link pipes and their approx 20 degrees, i have checked this against other manufacturers and this seems to be correct.

Has anyone has the same problem and got round it? Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated, feel gutted i now have a damaged swing arm!!!

Thanks in advance :thumbup

Thanks for reply.

I will try and get some pics uploaded soon.

It's a gen 2 rsvr, the down pipes are standard and the link pipes and cans are from carbon and co, mounted using standard stainless hanger straps to rear foot peg mounts.

Hi! My 07 Gen 2 Mille has Delkevic link pipes and cans. The hangers are bolted inboard of the peg hanger as yours are. There is no problem with swinger clearance. Ummm, sorry to ask, but, (especially with a pillion) - what weight is on the bike?

Hi, Thanks for your post :)

Seems strange, i could understand it more if my cans were round but their not!

Theres not masses of weight, im 11 stone and missis is about 9 but regardless to the weight on the bike it should clear regardless right?

Do you know how long your link pipes are mate?

In the pic, the distance from the front end of the can clamp to the start of the down pipe is 220 mm. Add another 40mm each end for overlap . . . Weightwise you should be OK - max load is 180 kgs and 20 st = 127 kgs.

Lol!! I read the akra manual tonight and they say the strap goes on the inside :lookaround

Thanks for all your replies chaps.

I moved the straps to the outside and it has helped a bit, ive also made spaces to move the footpeg hangers out from the frame by 12mm eachside, i think this has cured it :thumbup
