I am wondering what is everybody doing for a tank bag ?

I know that Aprilia offers one, I would like to see a picture of it, but I was wondering if anybody managed to use an existing aftermarket one.
 
I have the RoadGear Compact strap mount tank bag. Fits on the black plastic part of the tank without touching the paint. Costs a fraction of what the OEM costs and looks good.:)

I use a 20 litre Kriega bag withthe tank bra attachment. I attached the top straps of the bra to the upper rad housing, and the lower straps to the trellis frame. Works great, and I think they look good too.
 
I have used a Bags Connection tank bag with the Quick-Lock tank ring on previous bikes, and was very happy. My dealer told me that the filler cap and surround is identical to the RSV4 so I bought a 12volt equipped tank ring to suit and am hoping to fit it next week.
This setup allows you to attach the bag without touching the paintwork, and supply 12v power to phone/GPS/radio inside the bag. I looked for a while for something that did that and didn't require ugly straps or exposed wiring and am very happy with it

I too am perplexed by Aprilia's decision to use a pretty but useless tank cap - I would like to fit the Givi quick release tank bag system with one of their carbon look soft formed tank bags......but it seems I will have to drill holes in my pretty tank cap to secure the locking ring! At $340 ea for the Aprilia filler cap, I hope I don't stuff up! I'm still unsure if there is room for the Givi tank bag as the bars at full lock are close to the tank filler cap. A work in progress..... the closest cap with bolts was on a Shiver 750, but it was smaller than Caponord's.

I too was disappointed that I couldn’t us my Bags Connection Tank Bag on my Caponord.
I spend some time looking around at my options and I was lucky enough to pick up a brand new Aprilia Caponord 1200 tank bag and harness from a guy who sold his bike before he had chance to use it off EBay.

Coincidently when I went to collect the tank bag (as he was local to me) it transpires that I have his old bike, it was interesting to hear of his experiences (and troubles) he traded it in after only 1500 miles for a Triumph Explorer.
He experienced numerous problems with the bike all of which were all fixed under warranty (eventually).
Fortunately for me I have since covered a further 3,000 miles without any problems at all. Touch wood!!

Givi Tank Bag experiment

I have taken the plunge and bought a BF08 base plate kit (for Ducati 848,1098 etc) which fits the Capo tank filler assy nicely and the three mounting holes line up with the screws under the shinny top cover.

All is not easy as I have to drill holes in the pretty cover, but wait there's more - the top cover is cambered (not flat)....argh, I might be doomed to failure here!

Anyway I know a clever and precise retired engineering bloke who I will bribe with coffee for his opinion and just maybe he will work some magic on it for me.

If I can buy a second hand cap from my dealer's service dept I will feel a little more relaxed about buggering up a $340 tank cap assy. Wish me luck! ;)

I too rode a Shiver, but was underwhelmed by the modest capacity. It cost around $1000 and was tiny.
I like the idea of having another 12V option forward, but not when the price goes beyond $0.5k
Being 185cm, who can claim to have a tank bag sorted for under$500?
 
Givi 12Ltr quick release tank bag

G'day all, I have mounted my Givi 12Ltr 3D quick release tank bag. I took a deep breath and drilled out three bolts from underneath. But, my engineering mate was in hospital, so I got the holes slightly offline, however, it worked out ok. The Givi tank ring fits snuggly to the tank cap assy, without spacers, and the tankbag sits nicely above the bodywork. It's just what I wanted - big enough but not too big. Looks neat too. A quality product and easy to remove for fuel stops. The shoulder strap turns it into a light carry bag or I lock it on with a bicycle cable when I walk away. Cheers.:cool:

Ps The Givi 3D tank bag =$160AUS BF08 mounting kit = $25AUS The drilling of holes was free (me). Ps the base on the tankbag can be adjusted to give clearance to the bars on full lock.

Took BrisbaNords advice and bought a BF08 Givi mounting kit. You need to remove the entire fuel filler from the tank. Drilling out the three obvious screw holes with. 4.2mm drill means you can't app the holes with a 5 X 0.8mm tap and use the mounting bolts that come with the Givi kit. The outer ring of the tank filler cap is tapered and the cast holes underneath are not square so take some time to get square when you drill. If done correctly the Givi fixing plate and clip ring will bolt straight to the fuel cap giving you an excellent mount. The plate under the luggage needs to be mounted in the forward most position but you get good handle bar clearance. Thanks for the BF08 tip BrisbaNord.

My fitted my 2016 Caponord Rallye.
 
Oh, geez, wish I'd known you were going to do that......there was a post that I didn't know about until after I fitted my tank bag.......the Givi ring for a Guzzi fits the Capo tank cap and replaces the rubber seal.......no need to drill any holes.......:(

It all works fine, just a shame that no body at the Capo-Guzzi dealership knew anything (or had any stock for me to look at) at the time.......

I already had a Baglux tank bag and separate map carrier so I just bought a baglux tank cover off e-bay at a very sensible price. Looks fine - even the red matches.
