I am busy fitting the Ducati Starter Sprag Clutch Bearing Part No. 70140411A (Old Part No. 70140071A) which I understand is a direct replacement for the OEM Aprilia part.
The Ducati part is not supplied with a circlip / snap ring, whereas the OEM Aprilia bearing is retained at the back of the flywheel housing with a large circlip / snap ring.
Can someone who has fitted the Ducati bearing please advise me? Is it really necessary to have it in place? Or can one simply leave it out?
Looking at the original Aprilia circlip / snap ring it is of a slightly different design and is not transferable.
