anyone fitted hand guards to standard bars find as i get older the cold really gets to my hands even with good quality gloves but wanted some to fit standard tuono bars any recommendations

My tuono had heated grips on when I bought it (long since removed! ) but I did ride for a winter with them and the problem I found was they kept my palms warm but not the back of my hand ! So the knuckles which are the bits that get the arthritis still suffer! Even though hand guards will look naff they will provide much better and the right kind of protection!

I had Acerbis dual road on my 06 (and used to swap them over onto my Gilera 200). I thought they worked well for wind chill, but the real solution is heated gloves ( I have Gerbing ) which work a treat.
If you go the Acerbis route you need the adapter kit for Aprilias.

a picture would be good daz cheers have had 2 sets of heated grips on other bikes in the past 1 oxford the other make i cant remember never really liked the bulky feel and on both sets the throttle one melted through the rubber after a while just want something to keep the wind off have them on my motocross bike but those won't fit tuono bars

The other advantage of hand guards is that they keep your hands dry
Not sure which Tuono you have, but I was going to fit a set of heated grips on my V4R until I realised that the TC shifters are mounted on underneath the left hand grip. Decided not to butcher the bike and/or grips to fit them. Considered heated gloves, but they're not cheap, so got a set of Barkbusters Blizzard hand guards instead. They are awesome. They've kept my hands so nice and warm this winter that I've been asking my workmate whether it's been cold out, because I haven't noticed. I've also been using my old lined but uninsulated Revit gloves which now leak a bit, and they've stayed nice and dry even in heavy rain.
The Blizzard handguards are designed to fit just about any bike, particularly sports bikes. They're soft, so they flex out of the way if they hit a fairing at full lock. Although they strap on they're not instant on-off, but would only take a few minutes to remove between seasons. They weren't super easy to fit around my stock mirrors, but I seem to have that sorted now.
They look a bit naff, but I'm a real convert due to their effectiveness.

I had some handguards similar to daz's ones on my DL650. While they made a bit of difference, it was nothing like there difference I notice with the Blizzards. Also they didn't really keep my hands dry with stop start commuting.

Got a pair of Blizzards sitting in the shed from my VFR. They work really well for keeping off the winter wind blast and even better with heated grips.
The only issue I had was, they failed on the fairing when on fall lock. But as they are soft, didn't cause any problems.

My Blizzards had their first real workout yesterday when we had first our first winter frost (only about 4°C). About 30 mins in mixed open road and heavy traffic. My fingers got coldish, but not so I would've noticed if I hadn't been thinking about it.
