Just took T out for a spin and I lost all power, pulled the clutch in and coasted to a halt. Tried to restart and nothing. Waited 5 mins and it turned over but it sounds like a bag of dicks!! Any common faults this could be? :bangheadimage.jpgimage.jpg

Bag Of Dicks? Does it start up' is it noisy when you crank it over' a bit more info into what's happened and now happening would help.

the bike starts up again bit i get a loud slapping\ticking noise. i think it may be the cam chain, who knows. im going to get some expert eyes and ears on it today

never heard of any issues with cam chains or tensioners before but you cant rule it out I guess. Sounds like its a mechanical fault rather than electrical. Hope its not too expensive to fix.

It does have oil in doesn't it?
Sounds a stupid question, but even when mine was low on oil it sounded rougher/louder.

yeah the oil was the first thing i had a look at and it was at the max fill line on the tube. i had just changed the oil around 100 miles ago. spent all winter getting it ready and this happens.

The verdict was the big end had oil starvation and collapsed the bearing. I've put a new engine in now and have more problems. Error codes 44 and 1611. Stepper motor fault also showing

Wow! And that happened just after an oil change! Why would the big ends suffer oil starvation first! Sounds like you did the oil change yourself? Did oil pump fail or was there crud in the oil, etc??

Not sure of fault codes on yours. But someone will be along soon, who knows!

I did an engine swap early in the year on my 06 gen 2 , I had stepper motor fault as well as a coupe of others , as I used the throttle bodies off the original motor , had to get them set up to match the different engine, as for the stepper motor I just took it apart, re greased it and it worked , but this is a bit hit and miss it seems
