Hi all,
I've been looking at 07-10 Tuonos for a while now and found a mint 2009 up for sale by a local private party. Gonna go take look this weekend and if all is good hope to be a new T owner. The only question I have is will this bike murder me? I'm 43, started riding 4 yrs ago. Took the MSF course. 1st bike was Ninja 250 for about 6 months, then I had a Yamaha FZ6. Dead reliable but dead boring too. Test rode a Monster 696, didn't come away all that blown away by it. Really like the V Twin sound/torque though. Haven't ridden the T yet. Is the Tuono too much bike?

BTW, I noticed there's quite a few Scots on the forum. I'm originally from Dundee, but moved to Los Angeles almost 22 yrs ago.

Cheers!

Welcome mucher. If you take it easy at first and keep it below 6k you'll be OK. It will still be fast enough but if you want fun snap the throttle at 5 and a half and hold on. Not surprised you left Dundee for L A min :lol

Thx Slayer. See yer from West Lothian. Mate of mine said they closed the Forth Road Bridge till Hogmany and it's pandemonium...

Aye mucker everyone's having to use the new Clackmannanshire bridge. Plus point it's keeping fifers in Fife more lol

Welcome to the forum.
You'll love the T if you buy it.
As with any bike you will get used to it quickly. The T is addictive, and soon you'll be twisting the throttle hard. Enjoy

Welcome mucker, take it easy and you'll be ok.

Won't take long for yer to start behavin like a hooligan though. :thumbup

I have both an '07 FZ6 and an '08 Tuono and you'll be fine, just realize that while the Fazzer doesn't wake up until around 9,000 RPMs, the Tuono is there WAY sooner!

Engine has three powerZones. 1.5k to 4K. Lumpy anarchy but still pulls ok. 4K-7.5k midrange torque for excellent roll-on roll-ff. 7.5k onwards top end shove and bike will try to head but the horizon or lift its nose. Usually does both at once.

They're lush. Each time I think about selling mine, I ride it and decide bike is for keeps

Dundee oft to LA???

Welcome, as the others have said, take it easy and get to know it and how it responds and you will just love it.

Thanks for the responses guys and making me feel welcome to the forum. Here's a couple photos of the T I am going to look at Saturday. 09, with only 4,500 miles....shame but hope to rectify that right quick.

K lads. Here's the update. Picked up the bike this morning. The bike is beyond pristine. 09 with 4,500 miles on the clock. Was owned by a very cool guy that pit crews for one of the Isle of Man TT riders. Took exceptional care of the T. Threw in a spare new battery and a couple extra fuel filters.

Surprised how docile the bike was when I took it for a test ride. I know that can change quick if I get to happy with the throttle but I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to ride. I'll be keeper her under 6K until I get a feel for it. Have to say I never really fancied myself on an orange bike before but in the sun the color looks feckin marvelarse! Looking forward to learning all about the T from you guys.

Cheers,
Stu
