What bike next after Tuono V4

Hi love my Tuono to bits only had it 6 months so plenty of time before I consider changing if at all even... Which brings me to thinking what would current V4 Tuono owners choose for their next bike? Think Tuono is hard to beat... Think only downsides for me is seat. small pain, not much pull from bottom end but like **** off a stick from 5000 onwards, and think some of the finish such as plastic ducts into frame poor quality and look and feel cheap, and finish on alloy on engine looks bit green or discoloured slightly in some areas......... Nothing which really spoils it too much and probably addressed first 2 points with new v4 1100 [emoji3] [emoji3]

Ive thought about that myself, The only bikes I could think of to replace the Tuono would be the Ducati Multistrader or the new BMW XR.

Not any time soon though :thumbup

Id luuuurve a new tuono factory but to head away from tuono I've got a hankering for a Ducati diavel in Matt black, dunno how they ride but just love the look

Difficult one this, the main reason for the V4 was something different, got bored with straight 4's and triples and it hasn't disappointed!....had an old air cooled Ducati SS years ago and it was like riding a lawn mower but i'm sure they've come on a bit since then so maybe a v twin Ducati or KTM not sure which model though or maybe if Moto Guzzi came up with a modern version of the Le Mans!.
My V4 is just a year old so won't be worrying about it just yet and I love it, its so much fun for a number of reasons, so for that reason maybe another V4.....but the dealer network is hopeless and customer service is appalling judging by some of the posts on hers....I'll give it more thought when the time comes

The multistrada is vile. Apart from vague handling that probably feels sharp if you ride a gs. The wind noise is horrendous. Screen up or down, it's shockingly noisy. And the bike is massive. If you want a tourer, buy a proper one.
The SDR is very similar to the v4 to ride. Except when you crack the throttle open it responds and doesn't think about it like the v4. (Does that change with different settings?) The SDR is more comfy. Bars feel closer and narrower. And you sit in the bike more. Fewer dealers than aprilia but KTM do sort issues quickly usually.

If Visordown are correct and there's a new Ducati 1299 Streetfighter on its way then I'll be dropping my 2014 Tuono as fast as I can.

The Tuono is a great bike but Aprilia / Piaggio are the absolute pits when it come to customer service and after care. I'll never buy another Aprilia.

New Ducati Streetfighter for 2016?

Not sure, might go back to Speedtriple..R version, had 3 ST's not one gave me any grief, love my Tuono but reliability issues seem to be wide spread.

I sold my v4r -12, planned to get a SD 1290r, but did the "misstanke" to try it the same day as a 1100rr.. tomorrow I'm picking up my brand new Factory [emoji7]

KTM 1290 SD R for me although I would want to ride one first. A friend has a Ducati 1200s Monster. I really don't like how that V Twin makes power or handles.

Sat on a new model low seat height Multustrada 1200 and could well be tempted in future especially as it lowers even further..... Contrary to some I love the way a bug V twin gives massive amounts of grunt straight off the bottom end something I do miss with the v4.... Do think Ducati build quality and attention to detail is superior and would be tempted if they launched an 899 panigale based streetfighter....... Something very unlikely according to my favoured Ducati dealer...... Hmmm

A very interesting post as i'm looking to swap the other way! I currently ride a 1290R after getting shot of the diavel carbon red and for those who asked what they ride like as standard all i will say is nice in a straight line unless it's bumpy and in corners awful unless you spend ££££'s on the ohlins rear shock like i did and then i got MCT to set the whole lot up, much better after but still no super bike and engine is as lumpy as a toads back at low revs. I've test ridden the 2014 V4 and loved it apart from the seat and horrendous MPG so i was looking to order the new 1100 factory but i've heard it drinks fuel like it's going out of fashion and dealer back up is woeful, so probably look to keep the KTM until you get reviews of the new V4 model. Yesterday though i took out an MV Brutale 800 RR. Surprised me with how nimble and quick it was, not as fast as the 1290 grunt but very respectable. A few quibbles being the suspension was set as factory settings and was so hard it spoilt it on b roads and the throttle was set so sensitive it see sawed when combined with the suspension set up but they can both be changed and could or would make a seriously quick bike that looks gorgeous and with a dealer 6 miles away it could be an option when i sell the 1290. I've tested the S1000r sport, too bland and too many problems, the z1000 is woeful, monster 1200 is ok but too fat and lardy and i didn't like the speed or street triple at all, just didn't gel with them, so for me it's a question of keep the 1290, MV Brutale or even the mad Dragster is growing on me or the 1100 factory but thats way too expensive unless you can get an ex demo. The 1290 will take some beating i think. So comfortable to ride, 2 hours in the saddle and no pains, great wind protection for a naked i get no blast until about 120 (private road), great handling and mpg, it's also fuelled nearly perfect and will tour, commute or thrash with ease and turn the electrics off and it's as mad as a box of frogs so it's replacement has some high grades to live up to.

I'm keeping this bike a few more years until I hit 70 and have then decided on a V7 11 guzzi at that time. I expect to be past caring by then. At my stage of life, the only real thrill one gets is from speed or getting tazered..

I was going to suggest 'a mobility scooter' :lol ... but I agree with Beagle the V7 Guzzi would make a nice cool cruiser in the interim for the V twin fans among us!

... But I'd be tempted by the 1290 Super Duke.

My thoughts exactly - the new "Sport Adventure" category seems to be the next logical step, from pure sportbike to sportbike plus better ergos/raised bar (Tuono) to even better ergos/raised bar + more suspension travel. I lean toward the BMW S1000XR as it's a 4-cylinder literbike, but they need to fix the vibration problem at 5K RPM.

That said, since I've got 125 miles on my Tuono, it will be a couple of years at least.

I had a black Diavel before the Tuono V4. A great bike and sometimes wish I still had it. Might get one again.

ive just got a 2014 zx10r abs and my tuono hasnt been touched for 3 weeks now:kicknuts

Great question, difficult one to answer. Having always had Jap inline 4rs I bought a new Tuono earlier this year. Completely different but all in a good way, it goes, it handles, you can tour on it or you can race on it. Comfortable riding position apart from the seat being a little hard. The only thing that would make me look to change is reliability as posted above, wasn't amused when it decided to piss out coolant from small rubber hose on the left hand side of engine linking radiator coolant rail to engine in the middle of France. Jap reliability is first rate hope Aprilia's will prove to be as well. Rode the KTM RC8 and Adventure before buying the Tuono, as I was chopping in a ZX10R the RC8 was too alike and the Adventure just felt too tall... Wont be changing for some years to come,

I have just done exactly the opposite, swapping a 2014 30th Anniversary Edition ZX10R tuned to the nuts for the 2016 Tuono Factory, and I must say that I prefer the Tuono.
